If you’ve never heard of Colourpop, I suggest you look them up right now. Did you look them up? Good. Now let’s get into the details. Colourpop “popped” onto the web, quite literally, in 2014. Since then they’ve made a huge impact on the beauty industry, and continue to launch affordable, good quality, and of course colorful products. For the past two or three years I’ve used only colourpop eyeshadow. Why would I only wear one brand for two years? Because they’re just that good.
First, Colourpop is cruelty free. To some consumers, this isn’t a huge deal but Colourpop is perfectly targeting their millennial and gen-z audience by making a conscious decision to be cruelty free. Among brands that still aren’t adopting eco-conscious practices, Colourpop has become a popular alternative to those larger brands that still test on animals, while bringing the same quality at a more affordable price. Colourpop is completely cruelty free however, they are not 100% vegan. Colourpop does offer numerous vegan options if you are living a vegan lifestyle.
The major factors that makes Colourpop so great is the quality and the pricing. Colourpop’s parent company is Seed Beauty which also happens to be the owner of Tati Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics. The reason Colourpop is so inexpensive in comparison to those other brands, is because Colourpop does everything in house. They develop, test, and manufacture all in the same building. Seed Beauty being the parent company of so many other successful brands, also means they have a quality standard that must be met among all their brands no matter how inexpensive Colourpop is.
If you’re not hooked yet, let me conclude with the fact that Colourpop has almost no marketing budget. Advertising is through loyal customers that post on social media about Colourpop products and through influencers that know and love the brand.
Colourpop also offers a student discount!
